The Addiction Medicine Fellowship at Ventura County Medical Center is a unique ACGME-accredited program aimed at training full-spectrum Addiction Specialists proficient in providing addiction services to diverse populations. The fellowship offers immersion in various clinical settings, including inpatient detox, outpatient specialty clinics, and emergency departments, among others. Graduates from this fellowship are prepared to lead the integration of addiction medicine into primary care and are expected to sit for the ABPM specialty certification exam.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the fellowship, candidates must have completed an ACGME-accredited residency training program with board certification, or anticipated certification before the commencement of the fellowship. Preferred specialties include Family Medicine or Internal Medicine, but other specialties may also be considered. Applicants must be eligible for an unrestricted California Medical License and DEA, as well as Medi-Cal and Medicare provider eligibility.

Application Process

The application process is conducted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), which opens for review and will accept applications through a specified window. Candidates are required to submit the completed ERAS application, curriculum vitae, personal statement (1-2 pages), letters of recommendation addressing suitability for a career in Addiction Medicine, board transcripts, and a photo.
