This program is designed to develop future leaders in the field of advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology, incorporating comprehensive training in managing complex heart failure patients and the integration of mechanical circulatory support devices such as ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) and ventricular assist devices (VADs) through various strategies including bridge to transplant and destination therapy.

The fellowship is delivered by a dedicated seven-member core faculty committed to fostering a learning environment where fellows can thrive in both clinical and research settings.

Program Structure and Educational Opportunities

Participants in the fellowship are engaged in various educational activities, including didactic lectures covering 35 core curriculum topics related to advanced heart failure, presented by faculty and experienced clinicians in associated fields such as cardiothoracic surgery.

Weekly multidisciplinary transplant committee meetings serve as a platform for collaborative learning and are critical to the fellowship experience. The programs emphasize hands-on experience in clinical environments while encouraging fellows to initiate innovative projects, which can culminate in presentations at national conferences and publication opportunities.
