Program Overview

The Latrobe Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program, part of the Independence Health System, offers a robust training environment that accommodates a total of 24 physicians. With a history of more than 45 years, the program is designed to foster the development of well-trained family physicians committed to serving diverse communities. The program is unopposed, allowing residents to benefit from extensive clinical rotations and a comprehensive educational approach, while reinforcing the importance of continuity of care.

Curriculum

The curriculum is structured over three years, encompassing various rotations to ensure all-encompassing training.

PGY-1

Residents engage in hospital medicine, obstetrics, pediatrics, emergency medicine, and more.

PGY-2

The second year integrates increased outpatient family medicine office experiences, along with elective options and focused specialty training.

PGY-3

The final year emphasizes advanced clinical practice and elective experiences, preparing residents for independent practice. Residents also participate in direct patient care within outpatient settings throughout their training.
