The residency training primarily occurs at Princeton Baptist Medical Center and Grandview Medical Center, which collectively house 877 beds and conduct over 16,000 major operations annually. Exposure to specialized services such as pediatric surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Alabama and trauma care at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is also an integral part of the training.

Application Requirements

Brookwood Baptist Health accepts applications only through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Applicants are advised to complete USMLE or COMLEX Step II before the residency begins. Failure to do so requires that Step II (including Clinical Skills Examination) must be completed within the first six months of training. For retention beyond the second year, residents must also complete Step III. The program will only consider J-1 Visa applications and does not typically sponsor H-1B applications.
