Sports Medicine Fellowship

Dr. Nikhil Verma, Rush’s Sports Medicine Fellowship director, and Dr. Jorge Chahla, director of biomechanical research, together invite US medical students to submit an application for a competitive clinical research fellowship at Rush University. Our team provides the unique opportunity to work for two thought leaders in orthopedic sports medicine, both of whom are seeking forward-thinking, self-driven students to advance their interests in orthopedic medicine by working in a fast-paced clinical research group determined to produce high quality, novel research. Research fellows will also work closely in the clinic with prominent orthopaedic attending surgeons, residents, fellows, medical students and faculty.

This research position places you as the research coordinator for a busy research group. In this position, you will be expected to manage all ongoing clinical side of research projects and manage the research process in the clinic. The permanent research staff will handle the regulatory side of the research, communication with the IRB, study budget and financials.The attending physicians encourage research fellows to propose ideas and design their own projects. A major goal of this fellowship is to help students become more independent researchers who are in-tune to the major issues facing orthopedic surgeons today.

Prerequisites:

US medical students or graduates interested in Orthopedic Surgery. Only USA MD students will be considered.
