Acute Care PT Residency

The Henry Ford Hospital (HFH) Acute Care Physical Therapy Residency program, offered by the Department of Rehabilitation Services at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, is designed to elevate the general PT practitioner to a specialist within an acute care setting.

The HFH Acute Care Residency Program curriculum follows 4 rotations including: orthopedics, neurology, cardio-pulmonary, and medicine/surgery. There will be time spent in both general and intensive care units with mentors who have extensive knowledge and expertise in each practice area. Other opportunities include: clinical education, teaching in a local DPT academic program, clinics, research, rounds, and process improvement.

Residents will be paid a resident salary and are eligible for benefits as per Henry Ford Health policy. There is no tuition fee for participation in the residency program.

Prerequisites:

  • Successful completion of a full-time clinical internship in an acute care hospital
  • Letter of recommendation from a clinical instructor from an acute care rotation
