Adult Abdominal Transplant Fellowship

On behalf of the Duke Department of Surgery Division of Abdominal Transplant and Center for Advanced Practice, we would like to welcome you to our Adult Abdominal Transplant Fellowship for Advanced Practice Providers!

The fellowship is designed to provide 12 months of clinical rotations pertaining to the medical and surgical aspects of liver, kidney, pancreas, and small intestine transplantation. During this time, you will have the opportunity to rotate with variety of departments and services to better understand the field of Transplant from many perspectives. You will also utilize an online classroom through Duke Sakai for additional education.

The goal of the fellowship is to provide both new graduate and experienced Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners comprehensive and balanced training in patient care and transplant surgery. We take pride in our team dynamic and believe that you will always feel supported, but also challenged to learn as much as you can during this time. Prerequisites:

  • Graduate of an accredited physician’s assistant or acute care nurse practitioner program with current board certification
  • North Carolina State licensure or eligibility
  • Drug Enforcement Administration licensure or eligibility
  • BLS and ACLS certifications

*RN First Assistant certification is required for ACNPs interested in assisting in the OR, but it is not required for the fellowship

How To apply:

A complete application includes the following:

  • Application (Word document)
  • A signed copy of the Authorization Agreement
  • Copies of BLS and ACLS certification cards
  • A one-page typewritten narrative stating why you are interested in our Abdominal Transplant Fellowship for APPs
  • Official certification of NCCPA/AANP/ANCC (if certified)
  • An electronic reference form will be sent directory to the reference(s) provided in the application form.
