Advanced Esophageal Disease Fellowship

The one-year Advanced Esophageal Disease Fellowship at Mayo Clinic’s campus in Arizona offers fundamental training in managing esophageal disorders and performing esophageal procedures in a patient-centered environment unlike any other.

As one of the premier tertiary referral centers in the southwest U.S., trainees see a fascinating variety of pathology, from simple cases to rare conditions. Each trainee enjoys a balanced curriculum, access to renowned mentors, a wealth of research opportunities, personalized support, and one year tailored to their area of interest. The program accepts one fellow each year, which allows individual attention and camaraderie amongst the fellows and faculty.

Prerequisites:

Candidates for the esophageal diseases fellowship must have completed post M.D./D.O. training in internal medicine and subspecialty training in gastroenterology.

A strong academic record and appropriate recommendations is essential. Ideally, the applicant will be board eligible in gastroenterology before enrolling in the fellowship.

How To apply:

You must submit a completed application form and all required documentation in order to be considered for appointment.

Applicants considered for appointment will be invited for a personal interview with the program director and faculty. Interviews are arranged on an individual basis and are offered to candidates deemed most competitive, typically in the fall of the prior calendar year.

Complete the following steps to apply:

  1. Create an account to begin the online Application for Admission
  2. All applications to Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education programs must include these application materials
  3. After submission, view the required Supplemental Items and Documents
    1. Upload each required item in the Supplemental Items section
    2. Complete the Recommendation Request section

In addition to the standard application materials required by Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education, this program requires:

  • A letter of recommendation from your residency program director. This must be completed in the Recommendation Request section. The recommender will receive an email with a link to upload a letter.

Interviews are offered on an individual basis to candidates who are deemed most competitive.
