Advanced Oncology Fellowship

The one-year Advanced Oncology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic’s campus in Rochester, Minnesota, is designed for physicians who have completed an accredited Medical Oncology fellowship and who are planning a career in one of seven specialty areas:

  • Thoracic malignancies
  • Gynecologic malignancies
  • Gastroenterologic malignancies
  • Endocrine malignancies
  • Melanoma
  • Drug development and phase I clinical trials
  • Breast oncology

The Advanced Oncology Fellowship includes opportunities to develop expertise in the evaluation and treatment of oncologic diseases through supervised longitudinal care of outpatients with leading academic experts in the field. The program structure includes well-rounded clinical training with research opportunities with world-class investigators and clinicians in a collegial environment.

Prerequisites:

To apply to the Advanced Oncology Fellowship, you need to have successfully completed accredited training in internal medicine and oncology. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or foreign nationals who have or qualify for appropriate visa sponsorship and are eligible for a Minnesota medical license.

Complete the following steps to apply:

  1. Create an account to begin the online Application for Admission 
  2. All applications to Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education programs must include these application materials
  3. After submission, view the required Supplemental Items and Documents
    1. Upload each required item in the Supplemental Items section (if applicable)
    2. Complete the Recommendation Request section (if applicable)

In addition to the standard application materials required by Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education, this program requires:

  • Letters of recommendation from your fellowship and residency program directors. These must be completed in the Recommendation Request section. Each recommender will receive an email with a link to upload a letter.

Applicants considered for an appointment will be invited for a personal interview with the program director and selected faculty.
