Emergency Psychiatry Fellowship

This is a one-year fellowship, based at the New York Presbyterian Hospital Columbia University Medical Center Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP). The CPEP is comprised of 18 beds, and 6 extended observation beds, and includes a Mobile Crisis Team and crisis bed availability.

Fellows receive exposure to a wide variety of acute psychiatric emergencies including suicidality, homicidality, psychosis, depression, anxiety and substance abuse. Fellows receive supervision from numerous experienced psychiatrists, with a wealth of training and experience in emergency psychiatry. Other components of the fellowship include supervised research, administrative responsibility, resident and medical student supervision and teaching. This fellowship is an opportunity for public psychiatry fellows who are interested in receiving dual training in public and emergency psychiatry.

Prerequisites:

  • Completion of accredited psychiatric residency training program
  • New York State medical licensure
  • Acceptance into Columbia Public Psychiatry Fellowship
