Family Medicine Residency
The Marquette Family Medicine Residency Program is an unopposed family medicine residency program dedicated to training compassionate and comprehensive rural family physicians.
Our community-based, three-year training program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education with osteopathic recognition following the American Board of Family Medicine guidelines. Our program incorporates both inpatient and outpatient medicine experiences as well as rotations in rural areas within Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
Prerequisites:
- Applicants must have successfully completed a PGY-1 (Post-Graduate Year 1) internship.
- Candidates must have a medical school graduation date of June 2023 or later.
- To be considered, applicants must have passed the USMLE Step 2 examination within two attempts.
- Successful passage of the USMLE Step 3 examination is required by the end of the PGY-2 year.
- Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

- A personal statement describing your background, career goals, and specific interest in rural family medicine.
- Official test scores for all required examinations, including the number of attempts for each.
- A Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE), commonly known as the Dean’s Letter.
- A recent, professional photograph.
- A demonstrated strong interest in rural family medicine, which should be evident throughout your application materials.
