General Surgery Residency

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems General Surgery Residency Program is now accepting applications for one Categorical PGY-3 Resident position to begin training on July 1, 2025 in Richmond, Virginia.

Prerequisites:

Qualified applicants must be a current PGY-2 General Surgery Resident in good standing at an ACGME-accredited residency program.  Foreign medical graduates must be ECFMG certified and only J-1 Visas are accepted.

  • Current Curriculum Vitae
  • Personal Statement
  • USMLE Transcript (Step I, Step II CS & CK, and Step III)
  • Three current letters of recommendation; one of which must be from the current Program Director
  • Medical School transcript, diploma, and Dean’s letter
  • Proof of Eligibility to Work (Citizenship, Green Card, J1 Visa, etc.)
  • Summative evaluation reports to date
  • ACGME Milestones to date
  • ACGME Case Log Defined Category Report to date
  • All ABSITE Scores to date
  • List of rotations
  • Current ACLS, ATLS, FLS, and FES certification, if applicable
