General Surgery Residency
The MetroHealth System/Case Western Reserve University surgery residency has an opening for a categorical PGY4 resident starting July 1, 2026 for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Prerequisites:
- Applicants must have successfully completed a PGY3 year in an ACGME surgery residency within the past 2 years, or by 7/1/2026 in order to be eligible.
- Applicants must have successfully passed Step 3, FES, and FLS. We are able to support J-1 and existing H1B visas on a case by case basis.

- Three letters of recommendation, must be from surgical clinical experiences, one required to be from current/most recent PD stating good standing
- ABSITE Scores
- ACGME Milestones (PGY3 mid or year end)
- EPA report if available/applicable
- ACGME case logs (defined categories)
- USMLE Step 1, 2, 3 scores
- MSPE/Dean’s Letter
- Medical school transcript
- Medical school diploma
- ECFMG certificate if applicable
- ATLS certificate
