General Surgery Residency- Categorical Position
The University of Illinois – Chicago General Surgery Residency is recruiting a Categorical PGY-3 position for the academic year 2025-2026. Start date: June 24, 2025. Orientation begins June 16, 2026.
Application deadline: Apil 10, 2025.
Prerequisites:
- Completion of PGY-1 in an accredited ACGME general surgery training program that is in good standing
- Completion or in-process completing PGY-2 in an accredited ACGME general surgery training program that is in good standing by June 23, 2024.

- ABSITE score reports from each residency training year
- USMLE Step 1 and USMLE Step 2 score reports
- Three letters of recommendation from US, including one from your current program director.
- Updated CV
- Medical school diploma
- Medical school transcript
- Updated ACGME operative case log report
- Proof of US citizenship, permanent visa or valid current J-1 visa
(optional) FLS certificate, FES certificate - Explanation of remediation or probationary periods
