General Surgery Residency- Categorical Position
The General Surgery Program at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, IL is a five-year ACGME-accredited Surgery Residency Program. We are recruiting a PGY-3 categorical resident.
Prerequisites:
Applicant must have completed an ACGME accredited general surgery residency program PGY-2 year by July 1, 2025 and be in good standing. Applicant must be available to start for orientation on July 1, 2025. We do sponsor J1 visas.

- Brief Personal Statement
- Medical School diploma and transcript
- Dean’s Letter (MSPE)
- USMLE Steps 1, 2 & 3 Reports
- Three (3) Letters of Recommendations, including letter from current program director (if applicable)
- Rotation schedule from PGY-1 & PGY-2
- Current ACGME case log
- ACGME Milestone summaries from PGY-1 & PGY-2
- All ABSITE Scores from PGY-1 and PGY-2
- Current ATLS, BLS, ACLS certifications
- ECFMG Certificate (if applicable)
