General Surgery Residency-Categorical Position
The MetroHealth System/Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine General Surgery Residency Program has a PGY-3 categorical position available to start on July 1, 2025.
Our program seeks to train the next generation of surgeon clinicians, educators and leaders to provide compassionate care with a commitment to improving the health of diverse communities through service, research and innovation. The successful applicant will have demonstrated clinical excellence, have a track record of academic success, the ability to communicate effectively with others, work well in teams, and be aligned with the MetroHealth System mission and goals.
Prerequisites:
Applicants must have successfully completed two years of surgery training in an ACGME accredited program by the start date but not more than three years prior.

- Curriculum Vitae
- Three letters of recommendation, must include one from most recent program director stating good standing
- US citizenship, green card, or visa status, with ECFMG Certification, if applicable
- Medical School Transcript and Dean’s Letter
- Medical School Diploma
- ABSITE reports for all years taken
- USMLE Transcript (Steps 1, 2 & 3) and/or Comlex Equivalent
- FLS and FES certificates, if available
- Rotation schedule for all clinical years
- ACGME case logs – please include “general surgery defined category and minimum” and “general surgery year 2 minimum”
- ACGME milestones evaluations for all clinical years
