General Surgery Residency-Categorical Position

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a Categorical PGY-2 General Surgery Resident to join our fully accredited training program.

Our department includes more that 70 academic and clinical faculty (main campus and hospital affiliates combined) who prioritize outstanding patient care, ensuring that every surgery is performed with precision, compassion, and the highest standards of safety. Our hospital affiliates include: University Hospital of Downstate, Kings County Hospital, NY Harbor Veterans Affairs Health Care System in Brooklyn, and Richmond University Medical Center.

Prerequisites:

  • Completion of a PGY-1 General Surgery year in an ACGME-accredited program
  • Good standing with current/previous training program
  • Strong clinical and teamwork skills
