Pediatric Coagulation Medicine Fellowship

The Pediatric Coagulation Medicine Fellowship at Children’s Mercy is a one year fellowship offered to applicants who have completed a three year pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship. Our fellowship highlights are:

  • A regional hemophilia treatment center
  • Customizable curriculum to accommodate fellows individual interests and backgrounds
  • Fellow participation in a quality improvement project
  • Participation in rural outreach clinics

The objectives of the fellowship are to provide training specific to pediatric coagulation disorders and expertise in the diagnosis and management of children with bleeding and thrombotic disorders. In addition, the fellowship offers experience in the specialized coagulation laboratory and participation in research focused on hemostasis and thrombosis. The fellowship curriculum will be customized to accommodate the individual interests and background of the fellowship applicant.

Prerequisites:

Children’s Mercy primarily accepts applicants with J-1 Visa status. To be eligible for appointment, all international citizen must be sponsored by the ECFMG for the J-1 non-immigrant Visa classification and have and maintain valid ECFMG certification throughout the length of their training program. Applicants must also have participated in a US ACGME accredited Hematology/Oncology Fellowship program.

In some cases, Children’s Mercy will sponsor an H-1B Vista. Residents/Fellows who wish to change their immigration classification while pursuing a graduate medical training program at CMH must seek prior written approval from the GME Department. Failure to seek such approval will subject the trainee to immediate termination of his/her training Program. All candidates must have passed Step 3.
