Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship
UW Health American Family Children’s Hospital (AFCH), in conjunction with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicina and Public Health, is accepting applications for a 1st year fellow to join our established ACGME-accredited Pediatric Critical Care Medicine program in July 2026. The AFCH PICU is a 25-bed, high-acuity, mixed ICU that admits approximately 1100 admissions per year, with roughly 25% of those admissions representing children with heart disease.
Fellows lead multidisciplinary care in the PICU on both med/surg and cardiac ICU services for children experiencing a wide range of critical illnesses, including those requiring extracorporeal membranous oxygenation, renal replacement therapies, solid organ or bone marrow transplantation, among others.
The program supports fellows’ pursuit of wide-ranging academic interests, such as clinical or translational research, quality improvement science, curriculum development, and healthcare simulation. A diverse and expanding faculty pool provides ample opportunity for mentorship in a collaborative setting. Upcoming changes include our move to a new PICU space in early 2027.
Prerequisites:
Applicants must be motivated graduates (or anticipated graduates) of ACGME-accredited pediatric (or medicine-pediatric) residency programs eligible for medical licensure in Wisconsin.
