Pediatric Surgical Critical Care Fellowship
The Department of Pediatric Surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan offers a position for a one year fellowship in Surgical Critical Care approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
The Pediatric Surgical Critical Care (PSCC) fellowship provides the trainee with the opportunity to enhance his/her management of the critically ill surgical child by providing one-on-one care for our patients in the Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units under the supervision of our Pediatric Surgery faculty. The spectrum of diseases encountered in our units includes, but is not limited to, congenital diseases such as patients with congenital diaphragmatic hernia, congenital pulmonary airway malformations, tracheoesophageal fistula/esophageal atresia, abdominal wall defects (gastroschisis and omphalocele), neonatal bowel obstructions, Hirschsprung’s disease, and neonates with necrotizing enterocolitis.
Prerequisites:
Prospective applicants should have completed their General Surgery residency training and be Board Certified or Board Eligible, or at least have completed a minimum of three years of their General Surgery training. Although not a requirement, the majority of graduate fellows have had a specific interest in Pediatric Surgery.
