The MCOHS serves as an Educational and Research Center (ERC) funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), providing a robust framework for education and research in occupational health.

Since its establishment in 1977, the program has maintained a strong affiliation with both the St. Paul Ramsey Medical Center (currently HealthPartners – Regions Hospital) and the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. Curriculum and Training Experience

Residency Training Sites

Application and Eligibility Requirements

The program engages in the ERAS Match program for the application process. Candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria which include:

• Completion of at least one year in an ACGME-approved training program (e.g., transitional, internship year, or previous residency).
• Eligibility for unrestricted licensure by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice, necessitating successful completion of USMLE/COMLEX Steps I, II, and III within three attempts, with Step III to be passed within five years of Step II.
• Foreign medical graduates are required to have current ECFMG certification.
• Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legally authorized to work in the United States.

Interviews and Matriculation

Upon the submission of all application materials, interviews will be coordinated which will involve discussions with faculty members, participation in residency didactics, and informal interactions with current residents. This comprehensive interview day also includes a tour of the HealthPartners Clinic.

The final decisions for residency placements are typically made in mid-December, establishing a standardized timeline for all candidates.
