Residents will also have opportunities for electives in varioussubspecialties, such as global health and integrative medicine. Themajority of hands-on patient care is conducted at the Santa MariaWomen’s Health Center, where residents manage a panel of patientsunder faculty supervision.

In addition, the program incorporates advanced surgicaltechniques, including robotic surgery within the gynecologiconcology rotation, to ensure residents are well-prepared for modernchallenges in obstetric and gynecological medicine.

The Marian Regional Medical Center is a modern facility, whichopened in 2012, and features state-of-the-art equipment andresources. With 191 beds and a Level II Trauma Center designation,it serves a large and diverse patient population, enriching theresidency experience. The hospital includes nine surgical suites, a21-bed neonatal intensive care unit, and comprehensive outpatientservices. The facility’s location supports a large volume ofdeliveries and a rich variety of clinical cases.

As a newly established program, Marian’s residency isincreasingly competitive, with three residents accepted annually,allowing for close mentorship and individualized attention fromfaculty. Applicants must have graduated from an ACGME-accreditedmedical school and should ideally pass USMLE Parts I and II ontheir first attempt. Candidates with additional years of graduationor those with failed attempts on Step examinations may still beconsidered depending on the circumstances.
