The Mercy Medical Center Redding Family Practice Residency Program is a fully accredited residency program established in 1975, located in Redding, California. The program is sponsored by Mercy Medical Center, a member of Dignity Health/CommonSpirit Health, and is affiliated with the University of California, Davis. The compensation for residents during the 2024-2025 academic year is competitive and structured as follows: PGY-1 residents receive $71,760, PGY-2 residents receive $75,348, and PGY-3 residents receive $79,115. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, meals during workdays, provided lab coats, and a relocation allowance. Residents are entitled to four weeks of vacation per year and receive a book allowance and free parking. Membership fees for the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) are covered, along with costs associated with DEAs and medical licensure.6

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit their materials individually through ERAS, and the program adheres to specific requirements for International Medical Graduates (IMGs). There are no minimum score requirements for the USMLE or COMLEX; however, invitations for interviews may be prioritized based on scores. Applicants with multiple failures on the examination may be excluded from consideration. Any applicant who has graduated from medical school during or after 2021 is eligible to apply, although those with a graduation date further back may need to provide evidence of significant clinical experience.7
