During their residency, approximately two-thirds of the clinical rotations occur at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital, with the remaining third at the VA Saint Louis Health Care System – John Cochran Division. The Internal Medicine Residency at SLU also offers specialized tracks: a Hospital Medicine Track and a Primary Care Track. The Hospital Medicine Track, initiated recently, focuses on training residents in hospital medicine, emphasizing leadership and evidence-based practices. The Primary Care Track aligns with those opting for careers in clinic-based medicine and aims to cultivate skills needed for effective team management and population health.5

The preferred board exam scores (220 for Step 1, 230 for Step 2) guide the selection process, but growth and resilience are also valued.2
