The University of Kentucky College of Medicine Psychiatry Residency Program is an ACGME-accredited four-year program located in Lexington, Kentucky. • Second-Year Rotations: A mix of inpatient and outpatient settings, including Geriatric Inpatient Psychiatry, Emergency Psychiatry, and several elective options.
• Third-Year Rotations: Focuses on outpatient care with rotations at various outpatient clinics including the UK Outpatient Clinic and the VA Outpatient Clinic.
• Fourth-Year Rotations: Primarily outpatient clinics with opportunities for electives and further specialization.

Research Opportunities

Residents are encouraged to engage in research and scholarly activities throughout their residency. They participate in a peer review system and spend a half-day each week dedicated to research in their final year. The program’s research encompasses addiction, trauma, psychodynamics, and more, supported by collaboration with various centers and institutes at the University of Kentucky.4

• A minimum of two letters of recommendation, one ideally from a psychiatrist in an ACGME-accredited program, is necessary.
• Applicants should have completed two to three rotations in psychiatry and demonstrate engagement in service, advocacy, or volunteer work related to mental health.
